Personally, I imagine that the ultramarines, being so self-obsessed, perfectionistic, and eager to get all the glory they can, would fall to slaanesh. I mean, they have as many gold bits as the emperor's children!

I am quite sure there are many followers of Slaanesh among their ranks.

I know this is a "What If", but i see why people hate the Ultramarines even though i myself am a collector of the said figures and building an army as we speak.

They are in line after the Death Guard. Is anything you would like to see done with them?

Hold on...were the Ultramarines in the Roboutian Heresy chaos supporters? Weren't they just...traitors? I clearly remember a picture of a Mark 16 power armor, belonging to the Ultramarines.

They are the arch-traitors in this timeline. Zahariel disapproved how the Ultramarines were handled in the Dornian Heresy, where though they betrayed the Imperium, they remained uncorrupted. Zahariel reasoned given the nature of Chaos, any one being, whether human or Primarch, no matter how pure or perfect, can and would be corrupted if the circumstances are just right. Roboute turning traitor is his take on it.

Honestly? I like it better in the Roboutian heresy. Having one Legion stay uncorrupted and branch off from the rest of humanity is far more interesting than just another traitor legion.

I suppose Zahariel's dissaproval comes from that general distaste people have to the Ultramarines.

The Dornian Heresy changed around too many things in my opinion. Ultramarines not becoming traitors and Iron Hands with their Necron tech being my top disliked things. The Dornian Heresy is just too different from the canon universe for me to enjoy it. Only thing good about it was the death of Curze that was done so damn well. Only my personal opinions.

I actually wish the canon Traitors were more active in that sense. I understand they are meant to be evil, but they are too...bad guys; you know what I mean? The chaos could be about more than death and murder.

Really? I personally think there is plenty more to chaos than death and murder, chaos marines are the most interesting thing in 40k in my opinion. And they sure have depth. Well, depending on the author of course. Have you read Aaron Dembski Bowden's works? That guy is a genius when it comes to Chaos Space Marines. Night Lords trilogy might be my favorite book trilogy of all time.

I have not read any Warhammer book. ^^"

If it is like you said, theys hould really show it more on the codices.

Okay, if you have not read any than I understand why you might think that way. The codices use only the most broadest stroke with things they tell. They are there to give the player the rules and army background.

I think he's fine with their general existence, if not their portrayal, from what I read in his other work, Warband of the Forsaken Sons, of his treatment of the Sons of Calth, a chapter descended from the Ultramarines. He liked how the Horus Heresy handled the Ultramarines, showing them as noble warriors who are very good at their jobs, but nevertheless have very real flaws.

I will get to them when Zahariel drops their chapter. Probably not anytime soon since they are the third to last and the last Legion respectively, and Death Guard is the next in line.

Awesome work. but i was thinking that since ultramarine's chapter had so much concepts and ideas that you could draw some side pieces i would very much like to see a drawing of the Tetrarchs, or a slaanesh corrupted Cato Sicarius. if you have the time.

Not a bad idea. I am currently doing a better piece of a Imperial Fist, but after that I think there will be some time until the chapter of the Death Guard. Drawing Sicarius could be interesting
